Beyond the Buzzword: What Being Trauma-Informed Actually Requires
Trauma-informed” has become one of the most used, and least defined, phrases in mental health and workplace wellness. Nearly every organisation claims the label, but few can say what it actually requires in practice. This workshop moves past the language to the substance: what trauma-informed care and trauma-informed workplaces actually look like day to day, and what it takes to close that gap.
What You’ll Learn:
- Why “trauma-informed” so often stays at the level of language, and what separates the label from the practice
- The core principles behind trauma-focused care (safety, trust, choice, collaboration, and empowerment) and how they translate into concrete behaviour
- How to recognise well-intentioned practices that unintentionally retraumatise clients or employees, and what to do instead
- Practical steps for building trauma-informed habits into your own work or organisation, beyond a one-time training
- Truly understanding treatment modalities, levels, and trainings or certifications can also be very helpful. Or even understanding with regard to trauma modalities and the tier system, and also which modality might be a good fit, e.g., what does EMDR trained or EMDR accredited mean, and which therapist shall I pick?

Julia provides clinical supervision and consultation for practitioners working with Complex PTSD, dissociative disorders, and omission trauma, taking a strongly experiential approach that combines schema therapy, EMDR, and somatic work. Drawing on a decade and 8,000+ hours of direct clinical practice across Europe and Asia, she supports supervisees in building thepacing, structure, and nervous-system-informed judgement this work requires. She is the founder of Undertrained.org, an initiative to build complex trauma and dissociation competence, book author of “Nothing Happened” and “Emotional Needs”, and consults on the Integrative Trauma Programme worldwide.
